You’re invited to the 2nd Annual Silver Spring GreenFest!  A fun, informative, inspiring community event featuring:

Speakers and Panels Inside the Building Center (10 a.m. – 5 p.m.)

Welcome and Introduction:  10 a.m.

County Executive Isiah Leggett

Climate Change Session:        10:15 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.

Featured Speaker: Betsy Taylor, President, Breakthrough Strategies & Solutions. Followed by Local Solutions Panel with Clean Currents, and energy efficiency experts.

Building a Culture of Community and Corporate Sustainability:          11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Featured Speaker: John Mulrow, Transforming Cultures Project, Worldwatch Institute. Followed by Local Solutions Panel with Green America, Blessed Coffee and British Telecom.

Catan: Oil Springs Game Demonstration:        12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.      

Using the board game Settlers of Catan®, players learn awareness of the effects of oil on the environment. Suitable for 10 years and up.

Nature’s Limits:        1:30 p.m. to 2:35 p.m.

Featured Speaker: David Blockstein, Senior Scientist, National Council for Science and the Environment; Steering Committee, Project Passenger Pigeon. Followed by Local Solutions Panel with Chesapeake Bay Trust and The Nature Conservancy.

Diversity and the Environment:        2:45 p.m. to 3:50 p.m.

Featured Speaker: Reverend Lennox Yearwood Jr., President and CEO, Hip Hop Caucus. Followed by Local Solutions Panel with the National Environmental Education Foundation

The Sustainable Food Imperative:        3:55 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Featured Speaker: Janet Ranganathan, Vice President, Science and Research, World Resources Institute. Followed by Local Solutions Panel with the Montgomery County Food Council.
